Our History
Three centuries of stories
Jadroň Pub is one of the oldest – if not the absolute oldest – functioning pubs in all of Slovakia.
We are located along a historic trade route that once connected Bratislava with Trnava and Šintava. Travelers would stop near the ford across the Čierna Voda river to water their horses and rest. We are already documented on historical maps from 1780.
The Jadroň family, originating from Orava, moved to southern Slovakia due to the construction of the Orava Dam. In 1941, the grandfather of the current operators bought the pub, and it has been in the family ever since. Even during the communist regime when it was nationalized – and after 1990 when it was returned to us in a dilapidated state – we didn't give up and restored the pub.
The Legend of Adam Šangala
It is said that the legendary Adam Šangala – a famous figure in Slovak folklore – once slept in our inn. Given the age of the inn and its location by the main road, it is more than possible...
